Objectives
-To make the students acquainted with clinical pharmacology techniques to enable them to assess the efficiency and safety of medicines.
-To provide knowledge on the range of medicines used to cure cardiovascular, infectious, inflammatory, respiratory, gastro-intestinal and psychiatric diseases regarding choice criteria, interactions, risks and side effects.
-Features of the use of medicines to treat specific groups – pregnant women, elderly people, children and patients suffering from renal dyspnea or hepatic crisis.
Program
Introduction to the course unit; Clinical Essay, Clinical pharmacology; Drug iatrogeny; Broncho-dilating and anti-asthmatic therapy and Corticosteroids; Diuretics; Antihypertensors; Medicines used to treat cardiac insufficiency and medicines; Pain treatment; Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics. Prevention of side effects; Anticoagulants and platelet antiaggregants; Pharmaceuticals and Medicines in drug addicts; Introduction to Psychopharmacology. Tranquillizers, antidepressants; General principles on antibiotherapy; Beta-lactamic antibiotics; macrolides; Tetracyclins and chloramphenicol and aminoglicosides; Antibiotherapy applied to dentistry; Prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis; Prescription of drugs to pregnant women and to the elderly.
