Objectives

To provide extensive knowledge on periodontal epidemiology and on its importance on Dental Medicine.
To provide extensive knowledge on periodontal clinic.
To provide vast knowledge on periodontal treatment of committed patients from a medical perspective.
To document and diagnose advanced periodontal diseases.
To draw a multidisciplinary treatment plan for more complex cases.
To document and diagnose peri-implantitis.

Program

* Epidemiology of periodontal diseases. * Periodontal response to external forces. * Skeletal loss and patterns of destruction.
* Treatment of different forms of acute gingivitis. * Treatment of aggressive and acute forms of periodontitis. * General principles of periodontal surgery. * Gingivectomy and cut-out surgery. * Biological principles regarding the healing of surgical wounds. * General principles of periodontal regeneration. * Reconstruction of skeletal defects. * Muco-gingival surgery. * Periodontal maintenance treatment. The inter-relationship between periodontal disease and therapies and other dental fields of study. * Osteointegration in implantology and its importance in the oral health treatment plan. * Peri-implant tissues. * Etiology and diagnosis of peri-implantitis. * Regeneration in implantology.
