Objectives

Histology will include the microscopic study of cells and extracellular matrix, tissue and organs of the human being in their morphofunctional aspects. Histology aims to supply the structural concepts for a deeper study of physiology.

Embryology, which includes Developmental Biology, will approach the processes related to the beginning of life starting from only one cell, from which millions of cells will result forming (and grouped in) specialized lines, according to a perfect sequence in time and space, and originating tissues and organs.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The course will consist of a weekly lecture of 50 minutes and two weekly practical sessions (with the duration of 2 hours each): the total of class time will be 119 hours/year.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Eligibility for exams

Minimum of 9,5 values (in 20) in the practical evaluation;
Minimum of 8,5 values (in 20) in the theorectical evaluation;
Minimum of 9,5 values (in 20) in the final classification to attain frequency

Calculation formula of final grade

The final grade is calculated according to the formula: (3T+P)/4, where T is the grade obtained in the theoretical test and P is the final grade obtained in the practical exam.
