Apresentação Pessoal

Pedro Sousa Gomes is a Doctor in Dental Surgery DDS (2005), MSc in Biomedical Engineering (2008), and Ph.D. in Dental Medicine (2011), by the University of Porto. He is currently a Full Professor of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, U. Porto (FMDUP).  He is a Researcher of the Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV) of the Network of Chemistry and Technology (REQUIMTE), a member of the Materials for Sustainability and Wellness Group. He is a member of the Scientific Council and Scientific Committee of the MSc and Ph.D. programs in Dental Medicine - FMDUP. He has authored/co-authored more than 100 full-text manuscripts in international peer-reviewed journals with impact factors and participated in 13 national/international R&D+i competitive projects.  He has been awarded 13 prizes and honors. His research interests are focused on biomaterials/medical devices, particularly regarding the biological characterization and modulation through in vitro and in vivo experimental models, and tissue engineering strategies for enhanced regenerative outcomes. He has mainly addressed strategies for the healing and regeneration of bone and periodontal tissues, in physiological and pathological conditions.
