Objectives

As future teachers, this subject students, who have already  achieved the C1.1 level of Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL), should reveal a wide and rich domain over linguistic and non-linguistic resources which will allow fluent, natural and effortless communication. However, the change of role of Spanish students to teachers implies the need for a thorough knowledge of all the components of the Spanish language, not only in terms of use but also of standard, since they will soon become in language authorities for their middle school students.
Thus, one of the main goals of this subject is that students can recognize and reflect on those aspects of Spanish (phonetic, grammatical and lexical) whose acquisition may be more difficult to their prospective students (by linguistic interference or other causes).
On the other hand, as the speech of the SFL teachers during their practice is mostly oral, throughout the classes the oral expression and interaction skills will be mainly addressed so that they can practice and, in addition, successfully overcome the evaluation oral presentation . Likewise, the final 30 minutes of each class will be reserved so that students can raise individual questions related to the use and the linguistic standard of Spanish in their tutoring classes , both in an oral and written way, since the primal purpose of this UC is to support the teaching practice of future Spanish teachers.

Learning outcomes and competences

-Understand the key differences between spoken and written language, reflecting on the features of both types of speech.

-Speak in Spanish Language with
a high degree of grammatical, lexical and phonetic accuracy.

-Master aspects of Spanish use and linguistic standard on which previously had doubts.

-Identify typical Spanish language phenomena that can cause interference with the Portuguese language.

Calculation formula of final grade

Mandatory oral presentation of an opinion article - 25%
Written Test - 75%
Student must obtain at least 6,75 points (out of 15) in the final written test. The points from the oral presentation of an opinion article will be added to the test grade. The sum of the two grades will be the final grade. Students who do not orally present the opinion article will not be allowed to do the written test.

Examinations or Special Assignments

 All students must prepare and present in class the oral presentation of an opinion article (related to the subject of education) which will be also provided by the teacher. In this assignment students must apply all linguistic contents covered throughout the classes.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Students with special status who do not take the tests during the semester will be assessed by a final exam (written and oral) on all the contents of the course in June or in the Special Period.

Classification improvement

Accordance with Assessment Regulations in force.
Students who do not pass the subject´s written test in the ordinary evaluation call, may take a «recovery written test» but it will not be possible to improve the oral presentation grade.

In this file, one can find a detailed description of the tests and essays that have to be done, as well as the punctuation for each component.
