Through the contrast of the Portuguese and Spanish and the use of texts with different characteristics in the native language, the student should be able to develop his analytical skills to interpret the text role and adequacy to the target language. It is also wanted that the student achieves knowledge of the translation theory to its appliance in dexterity translation practices (translate texts applying the most adequate strategy techniques to each context and to discuss in a critical way the translated texts)
At the end of the semester, the student will be capable of:
1. Acquire appropriate principles of translation
2. Learn to analyze a text regarding to its translation
3. Know how to properly use the documentation procedures
4. Learn to apply the concept of equivalence in translation
5. Learn about some of the procedures and methods of translation
6. Review and grade translations

As it is a practical subject, students must perform translations during the semester being evaluated some of them and whose maximum value is 16 points; the remaining 4 points correspond to the final exam. Students that do not deliver translations requested throughout the semester may not attend the final exam.
