Objectives

• learning about the multiplicity of rural spaces, and their dynamics and problems • reflecting on the community support framework and financial/institutional solidarity directed to rural spaces, as well as to analyze repercussions of those supports on the territory • carry out a critical analysis of representative cases of actual dynamics in European rural spaces at the beginning of the 21st century, particularly in relation to Portuguese examples • learning about the strategies to implement in rural spaces and their consequences

Learning outcomes and competences

Pesquisar, tratar e interpretar, de forma criteriosa, as principais fontes de informação utilizada na análise dos espaços da ruralidade, designadamente a informação estatística, a documental e a bibliográfica.

- Integrar os conhecimentos fundamentais do âmbito das ruralidades numa abordagem interdisciplinar.

- Apreender a multiplicidade de espaços rurais, suas dinâmicas e problemáticas

- Reflectir sobre o quadro comunitário de apoio e a solidariedade financeira/institucional vocacionada para os espaços rurais

- analisar os reflexos territoriais dos apoios comunitários

- Concretizar uma análise crítica de casos representativos das dinâmicas vigentes em espaços rurais portugueses

- Apreender as estratégias a implementar nos espaços rurais e suas consequências.

- Trabalhar em equipa, partilhando ideias, métodos e estratégias, num ambiente de grande interactividade,

- desenvolver competências tendentes à definição de estratégias de intervenção a diferentes escalas.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical classes: explanation of theoretical contents using audiovisual support and the students' intervention. Practical classes: appliance of acquired contents by doing practical group work about previously selected themes. Oral presentation and argument of the practical work in the final classes of the semester.

Calculation formula of final grade

This subject has two evaluation components: - attendance and participation (10%) - oral presentation and debate of the report (25%) - final report (65%)
