Objectives

This course unit is designed for students to: - Understand the evolution of Portuguese legislation on urbanism and spatial planning; - Understand and analyze several different land use and spatial planning tools used in Portugal; - Question the notion of scale while preparing spatial planning tools, depending on the aims and measures to be applied during the implementation of land use plans. - Develop methodologies that guide the intervention towards the construction of land use planning tools. - Develop skills related to the analysis, structuring and execution of land use plans. - Promote the application of geographic research knowledge, methods and techniques throughout the development of work related to land use plans.
