General Objectives: To discuss the concepts of prehistoric "art" formulated according to the parameters of Western culture and to contrast them with the "readings" of graphic or sculptural productions generated by so-called primitive societies, that is, addressing the concept of "pre- historic art" according to an anthropological perspective. Specific Objectives: To aproach this art as a cultural information system and as a manner of producing and manipulating/managing "power(s)" inside the Society from which it originates ― with particular emphasizes on European societies of the Upper Paleolithic & Mesolithic and the Neolithic & Bronze Age periods To discuss durable architectural forms, as well as proto-sculpture and sculpture according to the parameters mentioned above (cultural information that leads to the formulation/definition of Identities, as well as social and political cohesion). To examine the broad contextual space (landscape) or restricted (cave, megalithic monument) as a "support" of Community traditions and intentions as well as technical preferences.
It will prepare the student to understand the art of prehistory, and will take him to assume it as archeological vestige. Will enhance the recognition of archaeological these peculiar remains in the exercise of specific exploration and archaeological excavation, as a licensed technician. Therefore, the case studies analyzed (examples studied) refer particularly to the Iberian Peninsula and secondly to Europe. But "art" is a set of practices that articulates with the ways of comunity living, creating a social sense, and, to that extent, the understanding of the theoretical and conceptual framework that UC develops, it is essential to understand the object of study in its various dimensions.

Global approach to the communities of Prehistory 3.The Art produced by European prehistoric societies during the glacial period 4. The post-glacial European art, with particular emphasis on the Iberian peninsula: a) in outcrops that generate distinct sites/places in the viewer's perception of the landscape b)in the megalithic architectures 5. Overview: rock art, monuments and other "Constructions" as alternative (and/or additional) ways of creating and managing specific cultural territories and Identities. during Prehistory.

The teaching method involves the exhibition and discussion of the above mention themes, at times using audio visual equipment. During tutorial guidance classes texts previously given to the student shall be adressed.
