Objectives
The expected outcomes of the course are for successful students to able to:
• Know how to find existing encyclopedias, thesauri, dictionaries, glossaries, databases and other resources
• Understand the theoretical basis of terminological and lexicographical practice
• Understand the need for corpora for terminology and lexicography work
• Create new terminological and lexical resources using Corpografo and Multiterm
• Maintain terminological and lexical resources at a professional level
Program
The aims of the programme are to:
• Provide an introduction to general theories and principles of terminology and lexicography
• Explain the relationship of terminology and lexicography to theories and presentation of knowledge
• Encourage the exploration and evaluation of on-line and paper sources of information
• Provide instruction in the creation of corpora and related terminological and lexical databases with Corpografo
• Provide instruction in the creation of databases in Multiterm
