Objectives
The students admitted at this level already have a vast linguistic repertoire, hence the purpose is to consolidate the knowledge of the language and the culture of the Spanish speaking countries, considering its diversity and deepening themes of social actuality.
To approve in this level the student must attain the following objectives:
− Understanding: Understand without difficulties large speeches, even if those are sometimes not clearly structured.
− Speaking and Writing: Communicate fluently, being easily capable of surpassing doubts or defects. Also, be able to correctly write about complex subjects.
− Coherence: Students must be able to produce a clear, well-structured speech, showing an adequate us of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesion devices.
In short, all this will allow students, by the end of the course, to reach the goals defined by Level C1 (Effective Operational Proficiency) established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Program
Contents.
Proper names, its meaning and value.
Intensification resources: emphatic expressions, comparisons, rhetorical questions…
Attenuation resources: attenuating expressions.
Texts and vocabulary about our emotions and about its influence in cultural context.
Write a small report about a controversial subject. Comparisons and colloquial expressions that include animal names.
Lear how to make compound-words in order to learn vocabulary.
Derivation with prefixes and suffixes.
Cinematographic scenes. Debate about a film and strategies for audiovisual understanding.
The use, rules and meanings of the Subjunctive. Matricial concept.
Marriage between persons from very different cultures.
Informative texts and curiosities about natural world.
Ways of addressing other people, requests with different degrees of intimacy.
