Objectives
To make students aware of basic, introductory aspects of psycholinguistics; to develop students’ critical reasoning.
Program
1. Biological foundations of oral and written language.
2. The critical period of language acquisition.
3. Cognitive aspects of language acquisition and development.
3.1. Cognitive and modular approaches.
4. The constructivist approach to language acquisition.
4.1. Brief approach to the acquisition of different linguistic subsystems.
5. Oral and written language learning.
5.1. An introduction to CALE.
5.2. Indirect and direct silent reading.
5.3. The pedagogy of immediatism.
5.4. Disorthography and the typology of spelling errors for its identification.
