Objectives
- To develop students’ ability to comprehend oral and written discourses, recognizing the connection between their purposes and the discursive devices that are used to achieve them and the characteristics of the contexts in which they are produced.
- To develop students’ ability to produce oral and written discourse by interrelating communicative purposes, discursive resources and contextual factors of production and reception.
- To become aware of the relevance of verbal language in understanding the world and others, in developing thought and in regulating personal action.
- To promote the acquisition of concepts that allow for an understanding of the key aspects of the structure and behaviour of the Portuguese language.
- To get students to adopt a critical attitude in understanding the characteristics of linguistic use.
