Summer Courses

These programs offer a unique opportunity to significantly learn/improve the Portuguese language while living in the center of Porto. They also intend to explore Portuguese and Luso-Brazilian History, culture and heritage.

Teachers will be available for individual appointments. Therefore, each student receives individual attention and the group will have a tutor.

FLUP library is the biggest of University of Porto, and includes the American Corner which is equipped with high tech material, like a 3D printer, iPad's and Kindle's, that students can acess anytime.

PORTUGUESE FOREIGN LANGUAGE – Simply the Best

Duration: 80 h + cultural activities + 4 all day excursions = 4 weeks

Target Group: non-Portuguese speakers who wish to learn a foreign language. Let us suppose you have some knowledge of Portuguese and plan to attend the Portuguese as a Foreign Language Course. In that case, taking the online placement test is mandatory so that you can be placed in the most appropriate Portuguese language level (from A1 to C2). Each level/class will start only with a minimum of 12 students.

Cultural Immersion Activities: visit the historic city center of Porto; visit the Ribeira Waterfront and the Port Wine Cellars; visit Casa da Música; go for a walking tour from the city park to the seafront promenade.

Discover Portugal Excursions: these excursions are part of the program, enabling students to culturally and historically discover Portuguese towns. Each week you will take part in a trip and spend all day in a different location. Lunch and dinner in typical restaurants are included. These experiences will help you acquire an in-depth knowledge of Portuguese culture. Students will be accompanied by the group tutor during these excursions.

Program costs: 8.500€ /each student - Groups must have a minimum of 12 students.

THE SOUL AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE - Feeling the Portuguese Language

Duration: 80 hours + cultural activities + 4 all-day excursions = 4 weeks

CAPPLE - The 5^th Most Spoken Language in the World: are you a teacher of Portuguese?

Duration: 30 hours + cultural activities + 1 all-day excursion = 2 weeks

Target Group: teachers of Portuguese as a foreign language who wish to update their professional activity in teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language; Teachers of Portuguese as a mother tongue who wish to graduate in teaching Portuguese as a foreign language / second language.

Cultural Immersion Activities: visit the historic city center of Porto; visit the Port Wine Cellars.

Discover Portugal Excursions: this excursion is part of the program, enabling students to explore a captivating region of Portugal. You will take part in a trip and spend all day in the Douro Valley. Lunch and dinner in typical restaurants are included. This experience will help you acquire an in-depth knowledge of the Douro Valley, a wine producing region. Students will be accompanied by the group tutor during this excursion.

Program costs: 5000€ / each student – Groups must have a minimum of 12 students.

DISCOVERING PORTUGAL: INTERCULTURAL CONNECTIONS - With one of the Oldest more stable Frontiers in Europe, Portugal – people, History and Culture

Duration: 48 hours + cultural activities + 3 all-day excursions = 3 weeks

Target Group: foreign citizens who want to know Portugal and learn about its people, History and culture.

Cultural Immersion Activities: 2 guided tours to the historic centre of Porto (the medieval and the 18^th – 19^th centuries part of the town); guided visit to Aveiro (the Portuguese “Venice”).

Program costs: 7.500€ / each student – Groups must have a minimum of 12 students.

PORTUGAL: THE HIDDEN GEM - The Luso-Brazilian Connection: a common History

Duration: 38 hours + cultural activities + 4 all-day excursions = 4 weeks

Target Group: foreign citizens who want to learn about the Luso-Brazilian History and Culture.

Cultural Immersion Activities: visit Porto’s most important colonial buildings; visit Serralves gardens and museum; visit Foz do Douro; visit Casa da Música; visit “Centro Português de Fotografia”, visit Soares dos Reis National Museum; visit Port Wine Cellars; visit to the town of Espinho (by train).
