Access and Admission for International Student - 1st Cycle

2nd Application Phase | From 10 February to 4 April 2025


Students who are eligible for access through the International Student system can apply to the 1st cycle of studies (Bachelor's degree).

Brazilian candidates who have completed high school in Brazil will be admitted to the application process, as long as they present the ENEM form (with a maximum validity of three years). The exams must correspond to the scientific areas of the course to which they are applying for.

International students from other countries must present a certificate of completion of exams for admission to Higher Education in their country of origin, corresponding to the scientific areas of the course they are applying to.

 Admission


Students who are:

1 - Holders of a qualification that gives access to higher education, understood as any diploma or certificate issued by a competent authority that certifies approval in a secondary education program in that country and gives them the right to apply and be able to enter a higher education institution in the country in which it was awarded;
2 - holders of a Portuguese secondary education diploma, or legally equivalent qualification, and possess:
        a) Portuguese national exams corresponding to the entrance tests set for that study cycle, for that year, within the scope of the general access regime
        b) national or final exams of foreign secondary education considered homologous by the cycle of studies scientific committee, which must focus on the subjects of the entrance exams established for the study cycle in question within the scope of the general access and entry regime;
       c) admission exams to Higher Education (such as, for example, the ENEM carried out in Brazil), which demonstrate knowledge in the subjects of the entrance exams of a level and content equivalent to that of students admitted through the general access and entry regime.
d) in the absence of exams or final tests, the final subjects of secondary education may be considered, when duly documented that the qualification held by the candidate recognizes the necessary conditions to present an application and enter higher education, in a similar course, in the country in which it was obtained.

3 - Candidates for the study cycle in Literature and Interarts Studies must have a certification of at least level B1 in Portuguese. Failure to present this certificate will mean exclusion from the application process.

4 - Candidates for the Sociology study cycle must present a certificate of passing a Portuguese language test or equivalent (except students from Portuguese-speaking countries)

Documentation required for an online application : (1)
  • ID card;
  • Certificate of completion of upper secondary education, of post-secondary non-higher education, or of Years 10 and 11 (Transcript of Records and Certificate of Completion of the 3rd cycle of Basic Education);
  • Certified approval (or equivalence) in all upper secondary education classes corresponding to the fields of study required as entrance examinations, in accord with Resolution no. 524/2020;
  • Certificate indicating the upper secondary education final grade average points.
  • Sworn statement to be signed by international students (mandatory)

(1) The International Student in the application process with foreign documents or documents issued abroad must submit in the application a copy of the original document duly authenticated by the official education services of the respective country and recognized by Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority, or with The Hague Apostille, for countries that have joined the Hague Convention.

 1st Cycle - Transcript of Records, Certificate of completion of upper secondary education and meeting the course’s prerequisites, when applicable.

  • Requests for recognition of prior learning and experience shall be made upon enrolment.


  • Application fee of ¤100, non-refundable;
  • Upon enrolment, payment of the 1st Cycle tuition fee for International Students is due.



These documents must prove compliance with the prerequisites of Groups B and D. The applicant shall present them at the moment of registration or enrolment.

Not presenting these documents will invalidate the possibility of enrolment or registration in higher education.
