Objectives

Acquirement of knowledge, skills and competencies that enable a better understanding of the contexts of research and development of scientific thought in different areas of knowledge essential to the study and intervention in Heritage, their inter-relationships and problems.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of this course students should be able to:

(a) demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of key theories and approaches related to heritage sciences;

(b) identify the development of their critical and historical contexts.

(c) discuss the relationship between theory and practice in the context of their own experience.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Classes will be mainly theoretical-practical, with topics of discussion on Heritage Sciences, using different types of teaching materials such as texts and images, among others.


During the classes period, students (individually or in groups) will present and discuss topics proposed by teachers, in specific sessions.


The evaluation is distributed without a final exam. It covers the quality of the participation of the students in the classes, the presentation and discussion of the proposed topics and a written test (which covers all the lected topics).

Participation in the classes = 5%
Presentation and discussion of topics in classes = 25%
