Based on several key texts, it is intended to familiarize the student with the translation as an object of many speeches. A historical overview of the main theoretical contributions to literary translation will be offered, which will emphasize the various dimensions involved in the importation of a foreign text by another linguistic, literary and cultural system. It will be given particular emphasis to more recent decades, a period in which the so-called "Translation Studies" emerged as a new field of study of great vitality.
At the end of the semester, students should be able to write a coherent and correct text about the subjects studied, should have developed critically their theoretical and methodological awareness, and should have acquired and consolidated a theoretical support for a future translation practice.
1. The most representative aspects related to the reflection of translation up to the beginning of the 20th century. 2. The development of translation studies in the second half of the 20th century. 3. The main tendencies in the contemporary panorama and their interdisciplinary dimension.
An eclectic method will be applied consisting of theoretical and practical classes, in which the active participation of the students will be promoted.
