Masters in Hazards, Cities and Spatial Planning

- All the administrative information: http://web.letras.up.pt/sga -

With an innovative and interdisciplinary course structure, we seek to attract graduates in Geography and in other disciplinary areas (architecture, engineering, planning, sociology, economy, law, among others).
Thus, this course can give a contribution to the development and updating of a new generation of spatial planners, as well as City Hall’s and companies’ workers, etc.

Currently, globalization, climate changes and territorial government are the major challenges in city and spatial planning. Therefore, the course will develop specific competences to answer these challenges, focusing on urban policies and hazard prevention.
Besides, we are alert to the labour market’s needs and look out to improve education in the areas of strategy and prospective, innovation, partnership and contracting.

Credited with 120 ECTS, the Masters is four semesters long.

Important:

The approval in 1st and 2nd semester subjects provides a diploma in two alternative specializations:

  • Urban Politics and Spatial Planning
  • Risk Prevention and Spatial Planning

On the 3rd and 4th semesters, students can choose one of three areas:

  • Scientific Dissertation
  • Training Report
  • Project Work
