Modified Release Pharmaceutical Forms

TF07006 - ECTS To provide students with advanced knowledge on modified drug release, its advantages and potential and especially on the different delivery systems that enable modified drug availability, particularly regarding the materials, technologies, physicochemical characterization, quality control, drug release profile and biopharmaceutical and pharmacokinetic aspects.

Liquid Systems

TF07002 - ECTS

This Course aims to give students the capacity to prepare  prepared formulations, allowing them to assume responsabilities at industrial level, in what concerns solutions, emulsions, coloidal dispersions and suspensions.

 

Semi-Solid Systems

TF07010 - ECTS

Knowledge of the semisolids systems in the pharmaceutical field: historical perspective and its classification; methods of manufacture; equipment. Learn to formulate and prepare semisolids dosage forms. Development of new semisolids formulations with pharmaceutical interest.
Verification and quality assurance: evaluate the main aspects related to its quality, safety and effectiveness.
Analysis of some of the features of the application places of semisolids systems: skin biometry.

Solid Systems

TF07001 - ECTS

To learn how to develop solid dosage forms and to understand the importance of raw materials in the manufacture of solid dosage forms.

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

TF07007 - ECTS

Know the concept of biotechnology: definition and main stages of development of biotechnology. Distinguish the various application areas of biotechnology and know the biotechnological processes. Give special emphasis to the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.   Know the regulatory aspects and bioethical applied to the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Acquire a comprehensive knowledge about the various classes of biomaterials used in medicine, both in terms of its properties and its application. To achieve these objectives, the student must apply 81 hours of work (27 hours x 3 ECTS), which correspond to 22 h lectures and laboratory classes 10 h. The remaining hours, 2 h correspond to evaluation and the remaining 47 h study time / work.

Medical Devices

TF18013 - ECTS
Provide students with the appropriate knowledge of Medical Devices and "in vitro" Medical Devices for Diagnosis. Students will gain competencies in the various competencies related to Medical Devices such as manufacturing, quality control, proper selection, and storage and preservation.

Veterinary Medicines

TF18014 - ECTS In this curricular unit the students will learn the various types of vets dosage forms and will be able to design and prepare them. The student will also know the legal framework for veterinary medicines and its therapeutic classification.

Cometics Products

TF18012 - ECTS

The students should know the different categories of cosmetic products, the main cosmetic ingredients, and the procedures for the manufacture, the quality control and the efficacy and safety evaluation of cosmetic products and ingredients. The students should be acquainted with the tools (databases, search engines etc) that will allow them to critically follow the progress in this field.

Medicines and Health Products Regulation

TF18011 - ECTS

Provide knowledge of the terminology and concepts used at national and European level in the field of drug laws and regulations and the technical and scientific aspects inherent to medicines while giving students the right skills to a good professional performance in different areas of legislation and regulation of medicines, particularly in the regulatory content related to the pharmaceutical development of formulations, definition and validation of methodologies for the production of medicines and health care products.

Seminar

TF07008 - ECTS With this CU it is intended that the student:
- acquire knowledge about strategies and methodologies used in the works of investigation to be developed, integrated in the studies cycle;
- get information on the "State of the art" and perform a review work concerning the topic to be developed during the Dissertation.
