Abstract (EN):
Nowadays increased levels of acoustic comfort in our everyday lives must be achieved in order to assure improved quality of human life. In view of this, vibration and structural acoustics control has become an important issue with a significant impact in transportation noise side effects, such as the ones originating from train wheels. This article addresses the use of viscoelastic damping technologies in a standard train wheel and presents a qualitative and quantitative finite element analysis of their effects on the vibroacoustic response and radiated sound power of railway wheels with different rotation speeds.
