This course is designed to provide students with the basic skills required for successful computer use and to prepare them to readily work with office software tools: word processing, spreadsheets and presentation tools.
After finishing succesfully this curricular unit the students should be able to:
(1) Produce documents according to their needs;
(2) Use spreadsheats for for basic data analysis;
(3) Do presentations according to their needs.
Use of electronic office tools, including word processing, spreadsheets and preparing presentations:
Theoretical classes shall comprise the formal explanation of subject-matter, with the use of transparencies, computer presentations and demonstrations with a video projector, followed by the presentation of examples and subsequent discussion. Practical classes include resolving exercises and preparing practical assignments.

A student enrolled obtains frequency if not exceeds the absence limit legally established and obtains a minimum of 10 (ten) in the final, and can not be less than 30% (6 out of 20) in any of the evaluation components.
There are no special tests or assignments.
For students enrolled under special regimes, the attendance of practical classes is not compulsory. Those students have the same opportunities for evaluation as any other student.
