Objectives

To know methods of dynamic analysis of train-structure system.

Learning outcomes and competences

To apply the methods of dynamic analysis to real structures. To understand the behaviour of structures under the action of high speed trains. To identify the most relevant aspects for the good behaviour of the structure and the train.

Working method

Presencial

Program

1. Introduction; 2. Structural solutions for high-speed railways; 3. Dynamic effects on structures induced by rail traffic; 4. Normative issues of the design of railway structures;  5. Dynamic modelling of the train-track-structure system; 6. Dynamic analysis of the train-track-structure system; 7. Presentation of case studies; 8. Monitoring

DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:

The study and application of methods for dynamic analysis of real structures subjected to high speed traffic enables the achievement of the objectives, in particular as regards the understanding of the phenomena involved and behavior of the structure and of the train.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The teaching involves sessions with theoretical presentations and discussions. The student grading will be based on a report assignment and a written exam

DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

The report assignment and the discussion of the UC contents allows for an efficient learning experience at this education level

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam
