Objectives

The success of Multimedia projects and products depends not only on the field of technical and creative skills but also on a set of other skills: management, behavioral and communication.

This curricular unit aims to develop the students’ project management skills and team work skills in technological projects. Students will be capable of solving a vast diversity of problems, which may happen in these projects. This curricular unit will also stimulate students’ entrepreneurship.

The topics covered in the syllabus have been carefully selected to cover the basic theoretical concepts and methodologies of product managing and, simultaneously, promote students’ practical experimentation of these concepts.

Learning outcomes and competences

By the end of the curricular unit, students must be able to:

  • Identify the importance of strategic project management;
  •  Identify different approaches towards product management: normative approaches and methodologies;
  • Identify and define intervention areas: process areas and relevant variables for appropriate project management;
  • Apply methodologies and tools of project management and teamwork;

Teaching methods and learning activities

Teaching methodolies are based on the combination of (i) theoretical exposition of the relevant concepts; (ii) situations of experimentation through which students may access the practical relevance of the theoretical concepts.

Evaluation: Teamwork that includes a written report and an oral presentation. In the report students must presente a project relevant to media marekts. Using the project management methods and techniques, the final report must clearly assess the project’s risks and expected profitability.

Since experimentation and teamwork are key features of the teaching methodology used in this curricular unit. Such teaching methodologies endow students with a practical view on the project management process, facilitating the accomplishment of the learning outcomes, which all have a very practical nature.
