Acquire knowledge on the constitutive models used in soils in order to analyze and model their behavior in geotechnical structures.
Use of the constitutive models of soils in the interpretation and modeling of soil behavior in geotechnical works.
Fundamental concepts; field equations to solve a mechanic problem; experimental assessment of mechanical parameters; field and laboratory tests; constitutive models; Geotechnical methodologies of problem resolution; complete solutions and incomplete solutions.Elastic models and phenomenological models based on elasticity concepts. Elastoplastic models; general theory of plasticity; classical models, Lade model, MIT model. Critical states models. Models for unsaturated soils.
DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:
The control and knowledge of the constitutive models of soils is an essential tool in the analysis and interpretation of their behavior in geotechnical works.
The teaching involves sessions with theoretical presentations and discussions. The student grading will be based on a report assignment and a written exam if necessary.
DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The report assignment and the discussion of the UC contents allows for an efficient learning experience at this education level.
