Objectives

Give an overview of research in Design, showing different research cases developed by different experts.
Transmission of appropriate tools for the development of a research project and preparation of a report aimed at presenting a dissertation.
It is intended as well:
Provide students with expanded knowledge on design research at national and international level;
Prepare students for research in the area of Design and product development;
Prepare students for basic research activities for the elaboration of a dissertation.
Skills to develop:
Ability to manipulate the concepts covered in lectures of the CU;
Competence of research and information management in the area of research;
Capacity for analysis, interpretation and critical discussion of information;
Ability to synthesize the knowledge gained in formulating a research proposal for a dissertation.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The lessons will be lectures, in the classroom, with audio-visual presentations.
Some classes are taught in library of FEUP.
Participation of several experts that will present different examples of products developed.
Perform a research work that will focus on the proposal for a dissertation, conduct the research and final presentation.
