Objectives

1. Acquisition of technical knowledge: advanced engineering knowledge in computational techniques, software and hardware for monitoring and control systems for lab and industrial installations.
2. Consolidation of personal and professional skills: problem identification and formulation; modeling; solution and recommendation; systems definition and interaction; compromises, judgment and balance in resolution; initiative; creative and critical thinking; career planning; actualization in the engineering world.
3. Consolidation of inter-personal skills; team work and communication: strategy and structure of communications, written and graphical communication; oral presentation.

Program

Module I: Matlab/Simulink: Introduction, Toolboxes (control, optimization)
Module II: Introduction to systems for monitoring and control on a lab and industrial level. Introduction to LAbVIEW programming, with development of applications for monitoring and controlling of lab setups.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Intensive use of the Matlab/Simulink and libraries; practical sessions in laboratory of programming in LabVIEW and interaction with data acquisition systems equipped with diverse types of sensors and controllers.

Software

Labview

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation without final exam

Eligibility for exams

Frequency in lectures and resolution of proposed problems.

Calculation formula of final grade

Evaluation is in a scale of 0-20.
The final evaluation (CF) will be based on the presentation and discussion of the projects performed. In both modules there will be one project, one report and one final presentation. The final evaluation will be the mean of the evaluations obtained in each module.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Not applicable

Classification improvement

Development of a work with Matlab/simulink and LabView.
