Eligibility for exams

To be admitted to exams the student must reach a passing grade (≥10 out of 20) both in the Theme Development and the Project.

Calculation formula of final grade

FG = 0.05 AP + 0.20 TD + 0.30 PR + 0.45 EX

where:
AP is set according to the student’s attendance and punctuality to classes (up to 10 minutes after classes start); (0 absences, AP=20; 1-2 absences, AP=10; >3 absences, AP=0)
TD is the classification given to the theme development work as suggested by the teacher; the students will be asked to present it, in group, in a predefined date and time agreed at the beginning of the semester.
PR is the classification given to the final report of the project developed throughout the semester, within the group, which is due on December 16th, 2011 (5 p.m.)
EX is the classification of the final written exam (multiple choice plus one essay question) which will focus the topics addressed in classes, as well as the content of the presentations given by each working group.

Those students not reaching a passing grade will be given the opportunity to make an additional written exam (appeal) which will focus the topics addressed both in classes and Theme Development presentations given by each working group. Students must reach Theme Development and Project final classifications over 10 (out of 20) and the final grade of the course unit, FG1, will be estimated according to:

FG1 = 0.05 AP + 0.20 TD + 0.30 PR + 0.45 EX

To complete this course unit, students must meet a minimal final grade, FG1, of 10 (out of 20).

Examinations or Special Assignments

Not applicable.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

According to the current regulation, and if the student meets all the evaluation criteria. The final grade of the course unit, FG2, will be estimated according to:

FG2 = 0.05 AP + 0.20 TD + 0.30 PR + 0.45 EX

To complete this course unit, students must meet a minimal final grade, FG2, of 10 (out of 20).

Classification improvement

Students wishing to improve their final grades must perform an extra theoretical exam (appeal), which will focus the topics addressed both in classes and Theme Development presentations given by each working group. The students will also be asked to give an oral presentation of a new theme. The final grade of the course unit, FG3, will be estimated according to:

FG3 = 0.05 AP + 0.20 TD + 0.30 PR + 0.45 EX

To complete this course unit, students must meet a minimal final grade, FG3, of 10 (out of 20).
