Objectives
Objectives:
This course aims to give students the fundamental concepts, both theoretical and practical, to analyse manufacturing processes related to plastic conformation technologies and machining technologies.
How to use these concepts in order to develop products and tools.
By the end of the semester, students should:
1. be familiar with the fundamental characteristics of manufacturing processes, their capabilities and limitations, as well as their applicability to create a product;
2. be familiar with machine-tools: how to operate them, their components, and their different types;
3. be familiar with the tools used in each process, how to operate them and their main components;
4. be capable of defining processes related to the production of different components/ products and corresponding stages of production.
Program
PLASTIC CONFORMATION MODULE

Eligibility for exams
According to Article 4 of General Evaluation Rules of FEUP
Calculation formula of final grade
Students who attended the two modules:
FM = A*0.5 + B*0.5
FM: Final Mark
A: Grade in the module of Plastic Conformation
B: Grade in the module of Machining
Students who only attended the module of Machining:
FM = C*0.8 +D*0.2
FM: Final Mark
C: Grade of the written tests
D: Average grade of reports (assignments and study visits)
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
An exam based on the themes that have been taught.
An individual assignment with a written report and oral presentation – the theme will be chosen by the professors
FM= A*0.5 + B*0.5
FM: Final Mark
A- Grade of the exam
B- Grade of the assignment
Classification improvement
An exam based on the themes that have been taught.
