Objectives

Acquisition of knowledge on the physical aspects, the interfaces and the interactions in the maritime and coastal zones through the maritime hydrodynamics and the coastal hidromorphology. Initiation to the conception, project, execution and comment of diverse maritime and port structures.

Program

Maritime Hydraulics: tides, winds, currents. Waves. Linear wave teory.
Wave action on coastal and harbour structures (Morison).
Wave propagation and interaction.
Structural components and construction techniques: design, functional requirements, hydraulic and structural behaviour, construction operations and examples of berthing structures and breakwaters. Case studies.

É distribuída uma publicação aos alunos contendo o programa, a história da disciplina, bibliografia básica e complementar, "questões chave" sobre cada capítulo, enunciados e problemas práticos.

Presentation of the subjects appealing to a great variety of practical examples. Specific spreading of concepts and terminologies. Importance of the conception of solutions. Methodologies of calculation. Calculations of stability. Constructive aspects. Interconnection with other subjects of the courses of the degree. Real consultation of studies and projects. Visits of study the interventions in execution or already materialize. Applications and Cases of Study. Visits the assays performed in the Hydraulical Laboratory. The participation in all the classes is considered essential
