Objectives
The main objective of the course is to transmit information about the geotechnical design of earth and rockfill dams.
Program
Types of dams and conception factors. Dam safety codes. Geological and geotechnical studies. Laboratory tests related with dam projects. Design, constitutive laws, static behaviour, seepage studies, evaluation of seismic behaviour. Fill construction control. Dam monitoring, equipment characteristics, instrumentation techniques, safety control, instrumentation plans, evaluation of the dam behaviour, visual inspections.
