Doctor's degree in Computer Science - MAP joint programme

InformationCourse/CS accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).

The Doctoral Program in Computer Science of the Universities of Minho, Aveiro, and Porto (MAPi), was proposed in 2007 in conformity with the new regulations that resulted from the Bolonha agenda in Europe (DL 74/2006, March 24th).

MAPi is a strong commitment by three top Universities from the north of Portugal to create in this region a doctoral course in Computer Science of very high quality, internationally competitive, strongly based on excellent research units from these Universities. It aims to produce future leaders in Computer Science, scientifically well educated, prepared to pursue a professional career as researchers, university professors or as innovative professionals at leading companies.

MAPi is supported by around 150 faculty, covers all major areas in Computer Science, both fundamental and more applied areas, and involves the cooperation of national and international research unities and companies. MAPi has established partnerships with leading Universities, such as Carnegie Mellon University, within the CMU-Portugal program, leading to a dual degree in Computer Science conferred by both institutions, and with University of Texas at Austin. There are already more then ten students being co-advised by faculty from both institutions.
