Objectives

To develop knowledge in Road Engineering particularly in Road Safety. The goals of the UC are:
- To develop a scientific search under a specific subject of the Road Engineering.
- To think and to develop a subject applying a scientific approach.
- To develop the capacity of conducting a scientific work considering a specific subject.


Learning outcomes and competences

Students should be able to:
- To develop scientific knowledgment under a subject of Road Engineering.
- To know how to do a systematic review on a subject. 
- To know different perspectives and approaches under the developed subject.
- To apply the knowledge in the development of a scientific writting work.

Program

General concepts regarding Road Engineering with a particularly focus on Road Safety. Under this latter, the following subjects can be included: concepts and indicators of road safety; accident predicition models; analysis of safety data; analysis of surrogate safety measures; study of the human behaviour; new technologies and the road safety; automated vehicle and the safety.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Teaching sessions with theoretical presentations and discussions. The student grading will be based on a scientific work (e.g. scientific paper) and a written exam if necessary.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

The report assignment and the discussion of the UC contents allows for an efficient learning experience at this education level.
