Objectives

To teach the proper knowledge to understand the functioning and the use of robotic systems, namely the technological aspects involved in conception, functioning characteristics, programming and industrial applications.

Program

Fundamentals of Industrial robotic systems. Technological Aspects. Robotic configurations. Sensors and actuators. Mechanical driving systems. Kinematics analysis of industrial robots. Control fundamentals of robots. Trajectory planning. Programming languages. Specification of industrial robots and robotic cells. Industrial robotic applications.

Mandatory literature

Teaching methods and learning activities

This course comprises theoretical exposition classes supported by audiovisual means related to technology and to the use of robotic systems.
Practical classes complement theoretical classes, allowing the students to deeply study the analysis of sequence of operations, the dynamics of robotic systems, the contact with industrial robots, their use and their application in industrial tasks.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Assessment Components

Description Type Time (hours) Weight (%) End date
Subject Classes Participação presencial 56,00
Teste 34,00
Trabalho escrito 30,00
Exame 2,00
Total: - 0,00

Amount of time allocated to each course unit

Description Type Time (hours) End date
Estudo autónomo 40
Total: 40,00

Eligibility for exams

Frequency is attained by the students that are properly enrolled and that don’t exceed the absence limit of practical classes, according to the General Evaluation Rules of FEUP.

Calculation formula of final grade

Test/Exam 70%
Monograph 30%
The monograph will focus on a theme related to "non-industrial robotics applications". It will be classified based on a written report, an oral presentation and a poster.

Examinations or Special Assignments

N/A

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

The special evaluation students must do the monography and the test/final exam.

Classification improvement

The students can improve their classification by doing a written exam (that corresponds to the test – 70%) and/or an oral exam (that corresponds to the monography – 30%).
