Interpersonal Skills I

PDEQB0038 - ECTS

This course aims to develop personal and interpersonal skills that allow the improvement of job performance. The specific objectives are the development/enhancement of communication skills, empathy and group dynamics, conflict resolution, as well as the acquisition of skills in the binomial teaching/learning, in line with a work plan agreed with the supervisor.

This curricular unit should include the development of various activities which may include the participation in scientific dissemination actions (such as FEUP open week or UP show) and activities related to teaching.

 

Introduction to Research

PDEQB0001 - ECTS Achieve key skills to carry out advanced research activities (at Ph. D. level)

Thesis Project

PDEQB0039 - ECTS

During this course, students define the scope and topic of their PhD research. Typically, this consists in identifying the state-of-the-art material, doing preliminary research and developing a research plan. The output of work carried out within the scope of this course is the Thesis Proposal to be submitted for oral exam.

Seminar I

PDEQB0037 - ECTS To give the Students a generic view of different problems in the area of Chemical and Biological Engineering and the most recent methodologies adopted for the resolution of different situations, both experimentally and theoretically. Good knowledge on assessment of scientific and technical works, writing of reports, papers and presentations.

Advanced Topics in Chemical and Biological Engineering I

PDEQB0044 - ECTS The goals of this course are to promote the development of advanced skills and/or complementary competences in key areas for the development of the thesis that have not been covered adequately by another course in the previous education of the student.

The student should be able to identify his/her needs to set, together with his supervisor, work goals and tools to successfully develop the theme of the thesis.
