This course aims to analyse leadership and organizational change as joint, unseparate processes of mutual implication; and how different modes of thinking translate in distinctive conceptualizations of leadership and in how to conduct processes of change, as well as in different organizational dynamics.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students are expected to develop competencies of analysis, reflexivity and critical thinking about leadership and organizational change, the different approaches to these themes, and the alternative ways of intervening in processes of change in organizations, as well as conducting the necessary diagnosis and self-diagnosis.

Substance thinking. Process thinking. Critical thinking.   

2. Organization and change
 Instrumental perspective. Process perspective. Practice-based perspective. Critical perspective.  

3. Leadership approaches
 Heroic perspectives. Post-heroic perspectives. Critical perspectives.

4. Leadership and organizational change
 Mainstream approach. Alternative approaches.  
5. Intervention methods for change
 Communication and resistance. Storytelling. Arts-based methods. Creativity methods.

6. Changing organizational culture
Perspectives on culture and organizational culture. Mainstream and alternative approaches to changing culture. Potential traps and non anticipated effects of attempting to change organizational culture.
