Eligibility for exams

According to the school regulations, students may choose between “Continuous Assessment” and “Final Exam”.

Continuous Assessment - In this case, assessment will be based on the following:

  • Test 1: 9th November 2017 - Room 263 (second class of the week)
  • Test 2: According to the school calendar (January'2018)
  • One team assignment in accordance with the instructions provided in the first class.

Explanation of Assessment:

1. This course is assessd by two alternative modalities the student can chose:
  1.  Distributed evaluation without a final exam – also named "Continuous Assessment";
  2. Final Exam
2. Students enrolled in the "Continuous Assessment" are expected to attend all classes. Students’ contributions to class discussions are highly important and are essential. Those students who cannot attent classes are strongly advised to choose the EXAM assessment type.

3. Students under the "Countinuous Assessment" form, are subject to the aforemention assignments: Test 1 + Test 2 + Team Assignment, whereas the students chosing the Exam, only do the exam at the end of the semester. Because attendance is recommended, so is the selection of the "continuous assessment" modality for a higher academic performance.

4. Students under the "Countinuous Assessment" are expected to achieve, in all assignments, a minimum grade of 7 points (out of 20). If not, they can still apply to the second edition of the final exam.

Calculation formula of final grade

Grading for Continuous Assessment

  • Test 1: 30%
  • Work assignment: 30%
  • Test 2: 40%

Minimum grade in each test/assignment: 7 points.

Grading for the Exam:
Assessment dates are established according to school calendar for "Exam Normal" and "Exame Recurso" If a student misses, fails or gives up on the first exam (Exame Normal), he/she is automatically enrolled in the supplementary season to retake the exam (Exame Recurso).

Classification improvement

Only at Final Exam - second editon

Observations

Students who cannot attent classes are strongly advised to choose the EXAM assessment type.
