Objectives

In the end of the course, students should: 1. Know the most important concepts of the Probability Theory, which are essential for the study of Statistical Inference and Econometrics. 2. Be able to apply the probability concepts, never forgetting their rigourous mathematical formularisation, even when intuitively understood. 3. Be able to do a report on data analysis (computing descriptive statistics and presenting graphical representations, together with the use of the software R)

Learning outcomes and competences

The students should Know the most important concepts of the Probability Theory, and apply these concepts with rigor and critiical knowledge.

Observations

NOTE: The count of faults to the discipline of statistics (I) for the purposes of continuous assessment (testing) is made from the beginning of the academic year (September 15, 2014 days). Despite the enrollment of these students be made/regularized later, students must also indicate your preferences to schedule/class at the same time the other students already enrolled, so that they can attend classes and be controlled to their attendance (otherwise will have faults and will be prevented from conducting evaluation tests).
