To allow students to make use of the knowledge learned (in the first year of the Master in Management programme) in preparing their dissertation plan.
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- understand some basic concepts of research and its methodologies,
- identify appropriate research topics and a research problem
- prepare a project dissertation proposal.
At the final essay, the student is expected to:
- clearly identify the research question(s) and discuss the gap/opening question he wants to study in its master dissertation;
- fully perform a literature review and systematize the relevant literature in a main framework;
- justifiably identify the methodology suitable to analyze the problem in research (based in the relevant literature)
- plan the research work through a chronogram.

2. Bibliographic and Statistical databases
3. Quantitative research methods. Data analysis.
- Teaching sessions.
- Tutorial sessions for reflection, discussion and motivation for future work of dissertation project.
- Presentation and discussion of dissertation themes, intermediate dissertation project draft and final project.

Final Grade = 0,15 x PaperPresentation + 0,55 x Final Essay + 0,30 x OralExamination
All the delivery dates are until 23h59 of the defined day.
- If the student does not present the research idea in the defined week), 1 point (out of 20) will be deducted from the final grade.
- If the student does not send the resume (according to the indications) until the defined date, 1 point (out of 20) will be deducted from the final grade.
- If the student does not send the 1st Essay (according to the indications) until the defined date, 2 points (out of 20) will be deducted from the final grade.
- If the student fails any of the above mentioned assignments subject to classification (Paper presentation, Final essay, Final oral presentation), he/she will have a classification of zero points (out of 20) in the corresponding assessment.
Criteria for evaluation of the Final Essay (brief guidelines)
- Research question framed in the literature, structure/coherence of the literature review (20%)
- Contribution of the research/main gap to be filled in to/within the researchliterature (20%)
- Integration and critical interpretation of the distinct contributions in the literature (30%)
- Methodology coherence with research question (20%)
- Rigor, quality and diversity of references/citations, text quality and clarity (10%)
Criteria for evaluation of the Oral presentations (brief guidelines)
- Organization and structure of the presentation (40%)
- Clarity of the presentation (60%)
