The main objective of this curricular unit is to introduce the students to the valuation, mergers, acquisitions and enterprise restructuring topics in order to highlight possible academic research questions.
Understanding of the main changelles on merger & acquisition (research) topic
I – Main topics on M&A 1. Corporate strategies 2. deal organization 3. Deal structuring 4. Post-deal integration 5. Private Equity 6. Alternative strategies.
II - Real Options Analysis for M&A 1. Introduction 2. Standard M&A real options models 3. Introduction to game theoretical real options models.
III - Special topic on M&A: Financial Analysis and Valuation on Merger and Acquisitions Context
This curricular unit will use a theoretical and practical methodology. In the first part of the course, the theoretical exposition of the main concepts of diagnosis and valuation of companies will be followed by the practical application of these concepts in companies involved in mergers and acquisitions. In the second part of the course, in each lecture, after a theoretical exposition of a topic related to mergers and acquisitions, the discussion/analysis of a case study will follow. Distributed evaluation with final exam.
