Objectives
The production and distribution of goods and services involves a set of interrelated operations and processes. Supply chain management consists in the study and analysis of these operations and processes, in order to improve their efficacy and performance.
This course intends to introduce some of the main issues regarding supply chain management. In this context, several concepts, models and techniques will be presented. The theoretical exposition will be complemented with examples, exercises and use of appropriate software, in order to promote student participation and to illustrate the relevance and application of the concepts and methods of supply chain management to real situations. Thus, at the end of the course, students should not only understand some of the basic concepts and methods of supply chain management, but also be capable of applying them to practical situations.

Calculation formula of final grade
Época normal: distributed assessment without final exam
This assessment type consists in:
- group assignment and its respective presentation (60% weight in final score: 40% for the report and 20% for the presentation);
- test (40% weight in the final score).
If a student does not attend the test or does not turn in the assignment, a score of 0 will be given to the test or assignment.
Students will fail this course (with a final score of 8) if they attain a score lower than 6 on either the test or the assignment, regardless of the overall weighted score.
