Objectives
In this course we explore the fundamental topics on NR, subject to the diversified background of students. The course is based on the fact that theoretical problems involved in the Economics of NR are not unique to NR industries. However, these industries present three very specific features that make them really unique: (1) they are inherently dynamic;(2) externalities are prevalent and so are market failures; (3) economic rent is fundamental to NR industries.
At the end of the course, the students must be able :
- to understand the multiple aspects of natural resources economic and political problems
- to take informed actions related to NR under different circumstances.
- to pursue their research either on NR economics or NR management issues.
