Objectives
1. To take advantage of the knowledge accumulated at Porto Faculty of Economics concerning growth and development economics
2. To reinforce the audience of the course within students interested in NGO work and practice
3. To consolidate the links with students of the PALOP (countries with Portuguese as the main language)
4. To integrate micro and macroeconomic analysis in approaching underdevelopment
5. To give theoretical arguments in order to achieve a global understanding of globalisation issues
Program
1. Empirical evidence on underdevelopment;
2. Economic analysis of the low income countries structural change
3. Human resources and migrations
4. Globalisation, income distribution and poverty
5. Financing policies against underdevelopment
6. The political economy of targeting underdevelopment erradication
7. Final synthesis - the state of art concerning world governance
