Cycles of Study/Courses
Objectives
At the end of the semester students should be able to use the theoretical framework to analyse current events in national and world markets related to status quo or to changes in trade policies, e.g. trade in agricultural goods, and the ongoing Doha round, at the WTO, for trade liberalization.
Program
I - The Theory of International Trade
Absolute versus Comparative Advantages - The Classical and Neoclassical theories of trade; Alternative Theories of Trade - economies of scale and product differentiation.
II - Trade Policy
The Instruments and the Impact of Trade Policies. The Economics of Protection and Liberalization. The Political Economy of Trade Policy. Economic Integration and Trade Blocs.
III - International Factor Movements.

In most classes theoretical matters are presented. Whenever possible practical cases are analysed and discussed.

About 80% of students attend classes which is above average values in this Faculty.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
ERASMUS students are subject to special procedure to assess their work. In particular they are subject to 2 questionaires and a final exam.
