Será que pode existir um alien lógico? A leitura austera de Wittgenstein e a natureza das verdades lógicas

Resumo (PT): Resumo: Procuro neste artigo defender que muito para além de uma opçâo hermenêutica que alguns wittgensteinianos consideram filosoficamente infrutifera (Hacker 2003), a chamada leitura austera de Wittgenstein, ou New Wittgenstein, de que James Conant (Conant 1991) e Cora Diamond (Diamond 1991) sâo os principais expoentes, foca questôes filosoficamente fundamentais. 0 meu exemplo é a relaçâo entre a natureza das verdades 16gicas e a natureza do método da filosofia. Começo por analisar as razôes pelas quais Conant (Conant 1991) escolhe caracterizar as po- siçôes tractarianas acerca de 16gica e método no contexto de uma disputa hist6rica entre psicologismo e anti-psicologismo. Concluo explicando a forma coma a figura fregeana do alien 16gico (Frege 1893) ilustra as propostas da leitura austera quanto a 16gica, método filos6fico e a nossa condiçâo enquanto pensadores.

Abstract (EN): Far from being a mere hermeneutic option, which sorne wittgenstei- nians regard as resulting in no more than a sterile debate on types of nonsense (Ha- cker 2003), the so-called austere reading of Wittgenstein, the main representatives ofwhich are James Conant (Conant 1991) and Cora Diamond (Diamond 1991), has philosophically fundamental issues at its core. My example here is the relation be- tween the nature of logical truths and the nature of philosophical method. 1 start by analysing Conant's (Conant 1991) reasons for presenting Wittgenstein 's Tractarian views of logical truths and of method in the context of a historical clash between psychologism and anti-psychologisrn, 1end by spelling out the way the fregean figu- re of a logical alien embodies the proposais of the austere reading regarding logical truths, philosophical method, and our condition as thinkers.
