Resumo (PT): Neste estudo problematiza-se a questão da fundação da cidade romana de Bracara Augusta relacionando-a com a existência de um assentamento militar ou de um estabelecimento civil em ambiente militarizado. Discute-se, ainda, a possibilidade da existência de uma base operações militares situada a sul do rio Minho.

Abstract (EN): This study discusses the foundation of the Roman city of Bracara Augusta relating it with the possible previous existence of a military settlement or of a civil settlement in a militarized environment. Furthermore, discusses the possibility of the existence of a military operations base located south of the River Minho.
