Abstract (EN):
Impulse-dried sheets made with bleached kraft pulps beaten at 25°SR and containing 2% cationic starch showed excellent structural consolidation. In fact, all the mechanical and structural properties except stiffness were enhanced. During impulse pressing, cationic starch handsheets from pulps beaten at 25°SR exhibited less delamination than those made from pulps beaten at 40°SR. Web sticking (to the heated platen press surface) was observed for sheets filled with precipitated calcium carbonate (15% CaCO3).This sticking, was attributed to the presence of calcium, carbonate, which makes the paper sheets have smaller void spaces, leading to the delamination of the paper web.
