Abstract (EN): In 2014, 2,503 million of tons of waste were generated in EU-28 by all economic activities and households, and it is forecasted that this number is not going to be reduced. So, it is a society obligation to search for solutions for this problem, and the designers have an increased responsibility to change this reality. Different wastes were valued through design and engineering, seeking the creation of materials to be applied in the development of new products. The different proposals involved the use of fishing ropes and nets debris, almond by-product residues, coffee waste and Portuguese pine resin as an under-exploited resource.
