Visiting researcher

FEP welcomes Portuguese and foreign researchers to conduct research projects in collaboration with professors or researchers from the School of Economics and Management.

The visiting researcher programme is coordinated by Professor Paula Sarmento.

Useful information

• The duration of the visitation at FEP normally should be less than six months and may take place at any time of the year;
• The research work carried out during the visitation period at FEP shall not include teaching activities, unless these are foreseen in a separate cooperation agreement with FEP;
• Research proposals must be submitted to the visiting researcher programme Coordinator with the following documents attached:
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae;
  • A brief description of the research programme (250 to 500 words) with indication of the start date and length;
  • A recommendation letter from a FEP professor or researcher;
  • Civil and fiscal identification information, including the number and expiration date of the supporting document(s).

• When applicable, non-resident researchers must present a valid residence visa at the time of enrollment;
• The visiting researcher is granted, subject to available resources, the right to use the research spaces and resources of the School or the Research Unit they are connected with;
• During their time at FEP, the visiting researcher will have the right to:
  • Access the libraries and documentary centres of the UP and respective informational resources;
  • Public access computers;
  • Access the wi-fi network on personal devices in all spaces of the University of Porto.

• Visiting researchers are encouraged not only to attend the seminars organized by CEF.UP and other seminars at FEP, but to present their own research, as well;
• FEP does not provide financial support to visiting researchers, therefore, all travel and housing expenses must be paid for by the researcher, unless otherwise specified in a separate cooperation agreement with FEP.
