- The first year ME students must choose 1st curricular year courses (“UCs”) with a total of 60 ECTS (30 per semester), beginning with the following minimum requirements:
GI | Macroeconomic Policy | and/or | Games, Strategy and Information |
GII | Econometrics | and/or | Numerical Methods for Economics |
- The 2nd curricular year is composed of the following (all mandatory) UCs:
Code | Name | Scientific Area | ECTS | Semester |
2ECON06 | Seminars in Economics | Economics | 7,5 | 3S |
2ECON05 | Plan for Dissertation / Work Project / Internship Plan | Economics | 7,5 | 3S |
2ECON30 | Dissertation / Work Project / Internship | Economics | 45 | 3S and 4S |
- In addition to these minimum requirements, each individual study plan must be approved by the Scientific Committee of the Master in Economics (CCME), through a designated tutor;
- The CCME has defined an English track, consisting of the following guidelines for individual study plans composed exclusively of English taught UCs:
- The choice of the individual study plan following these guidelines, is further subject to the approval by the CCME (represented by each student’s tutor), taking into account the student’s previous educational track;
- The choice of a different study plan – including the possible choice of other 2nd cycle UCs at the University of Porto – requires a coherent justification by the student and the corresponding acceptance by the tutor (on behalf of the CCME);
- Students should access the syllabus of each UC through the information system (SIGARRA, English language option) at www.fep.up.pt. While the next academic-year version is not put online, indicative information is always available for previous years through “other occurrences”;
- In order to make sure that the individual study plan is compatible in what regards classes’ and exams’ schedules, students should also check these schedules as soon as they become available (www.fep.up.pt, “School year”);
- The individual study plan for the 1st curricular year is defined/approved until the beginning of the 1st school year and can only be changed due to later changes in the schedule or functioning of UCs.
