GMAT Preparation Course

1st Semester 2024-2025

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is an international exam that assesses analytical, qualitative, quantitative, and English language skills. It is highly valued for admission to master’s programs at FEP (Faculty of Economics, University of Porto) and in many other economics and management schools worldwide.

FEP promotes this certification because it equips students for admission to FEP master’s programs, including the mandatory QTEM Master Programme.

Students who take this course may receive a refund if they meet the requirements and apply for the GMAT Award. Scholarship students may also be eligible for a fee waiver by applying for the GMAT FEE WAIVER.


COURSE STRUCTURE:

Linguistic Component: 26 hours (9 sessions of 2.5 hours each + 3.5 hours on Moodle)
Quantitative Component: 24 hours (8 sessions of 3 hours each)

The training will be conducted online via the Moodle platform.


AVAILABLE SPOTS:

20 - The course requires a minimum of 10 enrolled students to operate.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates should have:
  • Strong math knowledge.
  • English language proficiency equivalent to level C1 in writing and grammar.
  • Technical conditions at home to attend the online course on a platform indicated by the course instructors, if necessary.

PAYMENT METHOD:

If the minimum number of enrolled students (10) is met, admitted students will receive an email with Multibanco references.


DATES AND SCHEDULE:

Linguistic Part (Prof. Shawn Severson):

  • Schedule: Wednesdays, 18:30-21:30
  • Dates: October 9, 16, 23, 30; November 6, 13, 20, 27; December 4.
  • Total: 26 hours.


Quantitative Part (Prof. Sérgio Carvalho):

  • Schedule: Mondays, 19:00-22:00
  • Dates: October 14, 21, 28; November 4, 11, 18, 25; December 2.
  • Total: 24 hours.


APPLICATIONS:

Candidates should send their application to sa_dout@fep.up.pt with the subject “GMAT – 1st SEMESTER COURSE,” including:

  • Full name
  • Civil identification number
  • Complete address
  • Fiscal identification number
  • Current academic situation After applying, students will receive an email with information for the diagnostic test, which serves as one of the selection/admission criteria for the course.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Approval in the diagnostic test
  • FEP students
  • Order of application. Priority will be given to final-year undergraduate students at FEP.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The GMAT exam can be taken at CESAE in Porto (in-person) or online. Exact dates are provided to candidates upon registration at www.mba.com. Other test centers in Portugal can be found on the GMAT website.
  • Taking the GMAT exam does not require completing the preparation course.
  • The course will start only after receiving payments from admitted candidates (minimum of 10 enrollees).
